Welcome to the Online Home of Mother Emanuel Empowerment Center (MEEC). The MEEC is a central resource hub created in response to the Mother Emanuel AME Church massacre that took place June 17th, 2015. The MEEC exists to connect, restore and empower church members, families and all impacted by this life-altering event. If you or someone you know is in need of services to heal from the impact of this crime please know the MEEC in collaboration with other local agencies is here to serve and support you. We want to assist in recovery efforts and provide a safe gathering place to connect and empower anyone who may be in need.




Four years ago this summer, the unthinkable happened. Then the amazing followed. Architect Unveils Design For Emanuel AME Church Memorial

The design by Michael Arad features two large and curving stone benches, a gentle fountain and a garden space "dedicated to life and resiliency."

Adults who were impacted by the Emanuel AME tragedy
First and third Friday of each month, 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Adult males who were impacted by the Emanuel AME tragedy
Every second and fourth Wednesday of each month, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.


Adolescents ages 10 to 14
Second Saturday of each month, 12 to 2 p.m.

Teens ages 15 to 18
Second Saturday of each month, 12 to 2 p.m.
